Fashion Night Out: LA Style!

This Friday, September 10th, is going to be amazing! Fashion Night Out is an "unprecedented global initiative to celebrate everything in the world of fashion and to restore consumer confidence." -Beverly Center FNO will be celebrating its second anniversary in 12 cities around the world, I am very excited because this years event will be taking place at the mall where I work, Beverly City in Los Angeles, CA! This will be a star studded event that is being hosted by Will.I.Am of musical group The Black Eyed Peas and Lisa Love, west coast editor of Vogue magazine.

The purpose for this event is to get consumers out and excited about fashion again. With the way the economy has been the past few years some consumers are still hesitant to splurge at the mall! Having an evening of fashion shows, music, celebrities, shopper incentives and so much more will be enough to make even the most frugal person want to come out and have what is SURE to be a good time!

*non-crystallized version* $25
Almost all of the shops in Beverly Center will be having in store events, limited edition merchandise, treats, discounts and more! My store, Henri Bendel, will have the official Fashion Night Out t-shirt and the limited edition version with Swarovski crystals. Our in house illustrator, IZAK, will also his limited edition canvas tote bags with 6 of his trademarked designs with sales benefiting the NYC AIDS Fund! *While supplies last* The staff is super excited about this event, we will have the music blasting and we are all dressing with a Lady Gaga theme! (I'm more of a Victoria Beckhman, but I digress, I am one of her 'monsters' after all!!)
In addition to the fabulousness happening inside BC, surrounding areas of West Hollywood, Century City and the heart of Beverly Hills will also be having extravagances! A carnival sized ferris wheel is to be set up on Rodeo Drive (above).

Lashem

As you know, I recently went to the product launch party for a new eyelash growth product called Lashem. This product guarantees noticeable results in 2 weeks and full results in 6 weeks. I started using the product on August 31st, my first two weeks is up September 13th. I will for sure be giving you an update of whether I have results!

P.s my mom was a bit annoyed at me for using this product because my lashes are naturally very lengthy. She says someone who really needs the product should be using it, no me!! I want my lashes extra long! :)

Crossing the Color Lines

Interracial dating...we see it all the time, it's nothing new. As of late, I have been getting pretty annoyed at people's ignorant opinions of why a certain person chooses to be with someone of a different race. I strongly believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with dating outside of your race...I also believe that by doing so does NOT mean that you have issues with the males/females of your own race that would make you look elsewhere. To think that for so many years that it was taboo and against the law to date outside of your race and now we have the right to date whoever we so choose and people still take second looks in disbelief is beyond me.

I my self am not too much of a dater in the first place, but I welcome all races to have a shot at my heart! I have never actually dated anyone outside of my race but this Caucasian guy that I did want to be with said that he couldn't be with me because his family wouldn't approve, figures. Whenever I have those dreams of me being married with kids, my husband is almost never the same race as I am. I don't there is anything wrong with that. As long as I am treated well and I truly believe that I want to spend the rest of my life with this person, I don't care if he's purple!

People look too much into interracial couples. How many times have you heard "He's with that black girl because he wants a freak," or "She's with that white man because she want a rich man who will take care of her."? For every case of an interracial couple do you really think that those are the reasons behind them? Not at all.

Actor Brian White (widely known from his role in Stomp the Yard) recently married his longtime girlfriend Paula da Silva who is not black. Boy did bitter black women across the states have a fit over this! When I saw the wedding photos my first thought was, "Oh wow they look cute together!" However, the thoughts of MANY black women was "Had to go get a white girl didn't he?" I even seen a woman on twitter who said that she now has to unfollow him because of his decision, saying that "It's a damn shame!" It's a damn shame that he married a beautiful woman who he is CLEARLY in love with? I don't get it.
They look beautiful together

Living in a world where I can choose from thousands of different races of people that I could be with, why should we limit ourselves to just "our race?" Love is an art, whether you find that art in your race or a different one, be with who makes YOU happy! At the end of the day you are the one who has to look that person in the eyes...not society!

My other favorite interracial couples!

Gabe and Halle (they are no longer but dang I loved them!)

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton

I am in love with these two! David Bowe and the beautiful Iman!

Barely There!

More times than not, I get the most compliments on my makeup or how beautiful I am (*blushing*) when I where little (natural) or no makeup at all! Sure this is a HUGE ego booster but at the same time I wonder "Do you not see these sun shots on my face??" "Or the pint sized solar system I have on my cheek?!" I love wearing makeup but sometimes less seems to be more appealing to the eye!

Here are my favorite products to get a "natural" look that is still chic!

Powder: Poudre Universelle Compacte by Chanel

 Concealer: Boi-ing by Benefit

Blush:  Nude Blush by Dolce & Gabbana

Brows: Brow-Zings by Benefit

Eye Color: Big Beautiful Eyes by Benefit

Lip Color: Promiscuous by NARS

Mascara: Lash Stiletto by Maybelline

My Beauty Secrets Presented by Lashem!

This past Sunday I had the honor of attending the launch party for a new lash growth serum called Lashem! A good friend of mine works for the brand and she invited me to be a part of it! The event was held at The Abbey in West Hollywood (which is an amazing place!) and featured some incredible bloggers giving there favorite beauty secrets and style tips. A special brunch that consisted of some of the key ingredients found in Lashem (cucumber, goji berries, cranberries, grape seed and green tea) was provided, along with yummy mimosas and green tea! It was such a great turn out!

Enjoy the photos!

Tales of a Single Girl!

Being single is sometimes a blessing and a curse! Right about now (and for the past few years) this has been my theme song! *sigh*

Christina Milian - Someday Oneday

[Verse 1:]
♫Day to day and each night I pray
That there's someone out there that's gonna melt my heart away
And take me to another place
From the lonlieness that's driving me insane

I get so cold summer feels like the winter
When I'm at home, all alone I just cry
I wish that I could just lie like I'm happy
But I can't hide this hurt inside

[Chorus:]
But I'll tell you someday I'm gonna find
A guy that's gonna change my life
And I tell you one day just wait and see
True love is waiting out there for me

[Verse 2:]
I'm like an open book just trying to turn the page
Feels like I'm trapped in a maze trying to find my way
Oh my heart's yearning for someone to call my own
And I don't wanna sing another sad love song again

I get so cold summer feels like the winter
when I'm at home, all alone, I jusr cry
I wish that I could just lie like I'm happy
But I can't hide this hurt inside

 [Chorus:]
But I'll tell you someday I'm gonna find
A guy that's gonna change my life
And I tell you one day just wait and see
True love is waiting out there for me♫

What lovely lyrics! Someday oneday! :)

Single-Ish

I'm a big fan of Glamour magazines' Sex, Love and Life section, more so the Single-Ish column! This is the latest post that I read and I giggled from start to finish!

9 Basic Rights for Everyone In A Relationship

1) You have the right to remain silent.
You have the right to keep some things to yourself. To have diaries, email accounts and text logs that are privy to no one but you. You do not have the right to go smooching other people and keep that to yourself, but you do have the right to fantasize about smooching others and then write about it in your diary, talk about it with your friends, or just have a good old time with those thoughts by yourself.

2) You have the right to avoid parenting.
You’re his girlfriend, not his mommy. If he needs someone to reassure him constantly, tell him how great he is, and wash his socks, he should spend less time being needy and more time working so that he can afford a life coach, paid fans, and a maid respectively. Conversely, if she needs someone to pay for everything, fight her battles, and prop her up against every minor insecurity, she should consider her right to move back home or date a much older man.

3) You have the right to ask but not to tell.
Relationships die if they don’t progress—or they stagnate, which for some of us is just a long, slow death. Sometimes change needs to happen, and you have to ask for it. Maybe you need him to go out less. Maybe he needs you to be more affectionate. Maybe you need him to be nicer to your family. Maybe he needs you to do something different in bed. It’s up to you to ask, and, unless you feel like an ultimatum is your only option, up to no one to tell.

4) You have the right to dates…if he cannot afford a dinner date it will be up to him to get creative.
A girl likes to be taken out. Not just “like.” It’s her right as an attractive, scintillating, fun-loving woman. I know young women who, from dating jerks, or just hipsters, have literally never been asked out on a proper date. I’m not saying that he has to show up in a fancy car with flowers and chocolates for your mom, but a proper date from time to time is necessary.

 5) You have the right to clean up after yourself and only yourself.
I am not the tidiest of all people, but I try, and other people’s mess (in space I’ve shared with a significant other) drives me up the wall. If it’s a space you share, even if he just stays at your apartment from time to time, it deserves to be respected. Worst example: a girl I knew in college, who was dating a soccer player, had to suffer as, on more than one occasion, the soccer player she was dating and was sleeping in her room would (drunkenly or not) pee in her drawers.

6) You have the right to an orgasm.
Not every time. There needs to be some leeway here, on both sides, but I know way too many women, especially young women, who spend altogether too much time giving oral sex with little or no return on their investment. Of course it’s not just oral we’re talking about—your partner needs to make the accommodations necessary in your sex life that can help you “get” to where you want to “go.”

7) You have the right to see your friends.
Jealousy is a killer. As is neediness. If you can’t handle him spending time with his friends without you, maybe you just can’t handle him. And if he can’t handle you doing your own thing, whether it’s work, family time, or your girlfriends (guy friends too!), maybe he needs to grow a pair and find something to occupy his time with other than worrying about what you’re doing.

8) You have the right to be right….and wrong.
Everyone argues. It’s a fact of relationships. And someone is always right and someone is always wrong. But that’s not the point. How you approach arguments and their resolution can define you in a relationship. Are you a gloater? Do you hold grudges? Can you get over things? Do you choose your battles or do you focus on the smallest little things?

9) You have the right to judge and be judged.
Hey, taste is important. People who are overly judgmental are annoying, but people who don't judge anything are worse. We need to judge things to curate the people, places and things we want in our lives. There’s only so much any of us is, or should be, willing to put up with.
