Walk It Out!

I am probably the LEAST health conscious person you will ever meet. :-/ Exercising has never been a priority for me! I've tried the eating right ordeal and that didn't last too long, but I have never tried joining a gym or such. As of late I have been having the urge to walk! I have been walking once or twice A DAY! Once in the morning and also at night! I am so proud of myself! It feels really good too, put my iPod on and just strut for about an hour and a half. On my walk yesterday I discovered that there is a 24 Hour Fitness near my house...hmmm maybe in the near future will I get a membership there!!

Found this on Wikipedia ( I know, I know, not the best source!!)
Sustained walking sessions for a minimum period of thirty to sixty minutes a day, five days a week, with the correct walking posture reduces health risks and has various overall health benefits, such as reducing the chances of cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, anxiety, and also increases bone health.

After my night walk! :)

Think About It!

In the previous post I wrote about a book that changed my life! Here is a quote from the book that I absolutely LOVE! LIVE BY IT!!

"When God seems absent and everything is going wrong, will you still trust God enough to patiently allow HIM to prepare you for what's ahead?"

Thank you Bruce Wilkinson for blessing us with The Dream Giver! :)

Good Read: The Dream Giver!

I'm all about a good read! The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson is truly THE most inspirational book I have ever read! I actually cried while reading it! This book is a guide dedicated to making everyone realized and go after their God-given destiny. We all encounter circumstances that force us to put our dreams on hold. This book tells the story of a guy named Ordinary who wants to leave the Land of Familiar to find his Big Dream. He is faced with Giants, Border Bullies, Border Buddies but still manages to make it into the Land of Promise.

Are you living your dream—or just living your life?
Welcome to a little story about a very big idea. This compelling modern-day parable tells the story of Ordinary, who dares to leave the Land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream.
You, too, have been given a Big Dream. One that can change your life. One that the Dream Giver wants you to achieve. Does your Big Dream seem hopelessly out of reach? Are you waiting for something or someone to make your dream happen?
Then you’re ready for The Dream Giver.
Let Bruce Wilkinson show you how to rise above the ordinary, conquer your fears, and overcome the obstacles that keep you from living your Big Dream.
You were made for this. Now it’s time to begin your journey.
I have recommended this book to so many people because it has truly helped me in such a positive way! Check out Mr. Wilkinson's website to purchase this book and for info on his other best selling books!

Ethnic Model Shortage?

Whenever I browse Google or Yahoo! images for models, I always notice one thing: there aren't very many models of color that pop up. When I type in "black models" the same beauties appear: Tyra Banks, Iman, Naomi Campbell, Alex Wek, Salita Ebanks, and a few others. They are all very beautiful don't get me wrong, I admire all of them, but they are not the only black beauties out there. Not just black beauties, but Dominican beauties, Hispanic beauties, etc. I love and admire women of all colors, I would just like to see more diversity! I love the whole "Ebony and Ivory" theme! Here are a few very talented ethnic models who are (in my opinion) "Cover Ready"!

Arlenis Sosa

Sedene Blake

Jeneil Williams

Carmen Solomon

Diandra Forrest

All beautiful right??!! I'd like to see more of this!

Looking Forward to Fall 2010!

Fall is my least favorite time of year, I'm a Summer girl, hence I was born in July! But I must say that Fall is my favorite for trends; beauty and fashion both! I am so loving the trends that have been forecasted for Fall 2010.

Step by Step to Great Hair!

Lately I have been getting a lot of great compliments on my hair! A few friends of mine have been asking what do I do and use on my hair to make it look so nice! Well here is my regimen! I used to get so lazy with it, but now I'm it and the results are well worth it! See previous post for the products I use.

Once a month:
  • Apply a no-lye relaxer

Once a week:
  • Use an overnight hair mask
  • Wash hair mask out using a mixture of three different Alterna shampoo's
  • Deep condition with three different Alterna conditioners for 1 to 2 hours
  • After rinsing conditioner, apply leave in conditioner and serum to towel dried hair
  • Air dry hair (blow drying some of the middle, it can be annoying waiting for that section to dry!)
  • Spray on finishing spray
  • Flat iron in very small sections
  • Wrap hair (I want to start roller setting it, I love curls!)
Annnnnd that is how my hair stays beautiful!
